The National Network of Health Mediators Supports Protest against Acts of Hatred

On 4 July, 2014 in Sofia in front of the Courthouse, representatives from National Network of Health Mediators - prof. Ivaylo Tournev, Ognyan Kamenov and Health mediator Velcho Mihalev (Aytos Municipality) took part in protest against the multiple acts of hatred in Bulgarian society and the inactivity of Prosecution Office. The protest was iniciated by Initiative Committee “Against the Epidemic of Hatred and for Enforcement of Laws” in which participate different NGOs. The occasion for the protest is the systematic refusal of procecutors to investigate racist motives for offences against Roma, migrants, refugees and foreigners.
On the same day representatives from NNHM supported a protest letter-petition that was handed over to the General Procecutor of Bulgaria Sotir Tsatsarov with a copy to prof. Lazar Gruev, Chairman of the Supreme Cassation Court and Konstantin Penchev, Ombudsman of Bulgaria.
Signal will be submitted to the responsible institutions concerning the recent case of a Municipal Councillor from Varna municipality who used the epithets “parasites” and “nonhuman rabble” when describing local Roma people.
